The Department
We advise banks, property companies, leisure operators, multiples, occupiers and private investors on all aspects of commercial property. We have particular experience in putting together mixed use schemes. Our commercial development lawyers advise on all aspects of commercial real estate including planning, funding land purchase, property investment, portfolio purchases, disposal and joint ventures. We understand the complexities involved in acquiring large sites for commercial development and can provide a tailored team to suit your specific requirements. Our commercial development lawyers' experience includes: releasing restrictive covenants; complex site assembly; dealing with rights of light and boundary issues; obtaining vacant possession; negotiating planning and highway agreements and drafting/agreeing construction documentation.
The Person
The firm is looking to appoint a Partner with expertise in development and/or investment work. Applicants will need to have a portable existing practice which can be enhanced working with our excellent existing team

Our Manchester office has teams offering expertise in Real Estate, Construction, Insurance & Commercial Dispute Resolution and Employment law.
The Department
The Real Estate group has over 70 partners and lawyers and provides a full service from our offices in London and Manchester. Areas of expertise include: commercial and residential development;real estate investment and asset management; real estate finance; planning; tax; environmental law; regeneration; and dispute resolution.
The Person
The successful applicant must have:
– Sound technical expertise in Commercial Property work gained over at least 3 years post-qualification, ideally in a strong national or regional practice
– Initiative, drive and a strong team ethic
– Excellent client service and communication skills
– Evidence of academic achievement
A desire to use and develop marketing and business development skills will also be important in supporting the partners with their efforts to grow the practice.

Davies Arnold Cooper is an international law firm with a market leading real estate and development practice. Our real estate lawyers are highly regarded for their commercial, residential and mixed use development expertise and with a growing focus on sustainability, energy, regeneration and environmental issues.
We have over 40 lawyers in our development team advising some of the UK’s largest housebuilders through the full cycle of property development. The Government’s requirement for all new build residential development to be carbon neutral by 2016 has created a growing and urgent need from our clients for the commercial, regulatory and real estate advice to help them navigate this new legislative framework.
We already have an established footprint in this area and are now looking to expand our team at all levels but with a particular focus on Partners
The Person
The ideal candidate will have a track record of advising developer and / or energy clients at a senior level in relation to energy and / or renewable issues, including:
•The regulatory framework provided by the Energy Act 2008 and related EU and domestic legislation
•The legal structures relating to on-site power generation
•The creation of legal architecture to accommodate solar, wind power, geothermal, tide and hydroelectric power generation.
It is likely you will have developed your practice within the built environment sector with a mix of experience across real estate, commercial projects and energy regulation. We are seeking lawyers who have an existing network of contacts in this area, strong business development skills and the drive and ambition to help us capitalise on our unique market position.
