The Department
Davies Arnold Cooper has a leading international insurance and reinsurance practice, with a team of over 80 litigation lawyers across our London, Madrid, Manchester and Mexico City offices.
We have particular strength advising on complex and high value claims whether domestic or international, acting for insurers, underwriting agents, brokers, intermediaries and risk managers. Our lawyers are specialists in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, as well as litigation. Our team also includes specialist regulatory and corporate insurance lawyers.
With market-leading practices in Madrid and Mexico City, in addition to London, we have real strength across Spain and Latin America.

We advise on everything from straightforward claims to catastrophes, property, construction, casualty, liability, reinsurance, a broad range of professional indemnity, directors' and officers' liabilities, financial institutions, financial risks and markets, ART, finite risks, captives, subrogation, and more. We also advise on regulatory and disciplinary issues, policy programmes and products, contract drafting, binding authorities, and commercial litigation both insurance related and non-related.
The Person
With our increasingly Latin American focus, we are looking for a lawyer to join our international insurance and reinsurance practice. Candidates will be qualified in England & Wales and must have experience advising on large international insurance/reinsurance claims, ideally with a construction or engineering bias. Candidates must have commercial and insurance experience and a willingness to travel on occasions to South America, leading projects and arbitrations.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
•Strong academics / intellect
•At least 3 years of relevant UK jurisdiction experience
•Evidence of business development / marketing skills
•Strong relationship-building track record with clients in different jurisdictions
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work for insurers and reinsurers on Latin American disputes relating to:
•Major infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy sector
•Financial institutions and bankers blanket bonds (BBB)
•War and political risks, and terrorist attacks
•Major disasters and incidents
•Property, construction and engineering projects
•Product liability issues
