We are currently looking to recruit an IP Litigation lawyer with 5+ years' post qualification experience to join our Outsourcing, Technology & Commercial Group. The role can based from either our Birmingham, Leeds or Scottish office.
Background

Pinsent Masons LLP has one of the leading and most established outsourcing, technology & commercial law practices in the UK. With a team of 17 partners and 53 additional fee-earners, across a network of offices nationwide, our substantial practice provides both commercial and contentious services. Pinsent Masons LLP provides a full range of advice and guidance, including in relation to: outsourcing, e-business, IT product and services contracts, commercial contracts, Freedom of Information, intellectual property, technology, IT and telecoms disputes, data protection and privacy and media.

Our highly respected, experienced IP team is one of the largest in the UK advising a wide range of blue chip technology, manufacturing, biosciences and retail companies on all aspects of the exploitation and enforcement of their intellectual property rights. This includes advising clients on managing their intellectual property and optimising their returns and investment. It also includes advising on potential collaborations with third parties and on the IP aspects of the sale or purchase of businesses. The Firm also has a trade mark, design registration and patent filing practice, with some of the team based in Shanghai.

A substantial number of the team have science backgrounds in a wide range of disciplines such as life sciences, electronics, physics and chemistry. Coupled with legal expertise, this puts the team as one of the leaders in handling technically challenging patent disputes. In addition, the team has extensive experience of specialist sectors such as electronics, ICT, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, automotive, retail, oil and universities to list but a few.

Many of the matters which the team handles include an international element and there is a considerable knowledge base within the team concerning practices and the variety of ways disputes are handled overseas. Such knowledge is essential where cross-border factors are involved or forum shopping is an issue. This complements our wide ranging network of overseas associates in this field.

Our "one stop shop" covers all aspects of intellectual property such as patents, designs, copyright, databases, passing off, parallel importing, anti-counterfeiting, confidentiality, and media. This broad approach is vital as the overlap between different rights is ever increasing. Included is a complete trade mark service to clients through our Trade Marks team which heads the league table of UK trade marks filed by law firms.

The Candidates Required

The successful candidates will ideally have gained experience in a City firm or large regional practice. Candidates must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. They will be a team player with a strong client focussed approach. They will also have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills.

This is a great opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic IP Litigation lawyer to be part of this highly regarded technology practice. The ideal applicant will be at a leading IP practice with excellent experience in contentious and non-contentious IP matters, have real ambition and enjoy marketing both internally and externally and developing client relationships. The role promises exposure to an impressive client base. The successful candidate will also become part of a team committed to quality and excellent client service. Career prospects are excellent.
