The Group/Team

Our Pensions Group currently comprises 3 partners, 14 fee earners, 1 Professional Support Lawyer, and 3 trainee solicitors based in the Leeds, London and Manchester offices. The Group is involved in all aspects of advisory and corporate support pensions advice. The Group also works closely with our Business Support and Restructuring team to provide advice to the PPF, restructuring professionals and trustees on pensions issues in the context of corporate duties, as well as with the Litigation department where there is a partner who specialises in pensions litigation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their future and career with our firm.


The Role

The role will involve the following:

• Corporate support work

• Advice to scheme trustees

• Advice to corporates

• Potentially, some pensions litigation work if of particular interest


Skills & Competencies required

In addition to the general competencies for an Associate of this level (outlined on the website Associate Competency Levels), any successful applicant will need the following skills:

• A commercial and common sense approach to issues, together with a sound technical understanding of the law

• Excellent organisational skills

• Good client-facing and interpersonal skills

• Excellent research skills

• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team

• Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and development.


Background

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience of Pensions law gained at an appropriate level within a comparable environment

• Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and development

• Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2.1 degree

• Good sense of humour and ability to be a team player.
