The Group/Team
Located within the Finance & Projects Division, our Banking Group is a national team with significant resource in each of our offices in London, Leeds and Manchester. The Group acts for a wide variety of banks and financial institutions. We also act for some of the Firm's corporate and property clients when they borrow. The Group has significant capability in Real Estate Finance, Corporate Banking (including Leveraged Finance), Social Housing Finance, Asset Finance, Asset Based Lending, Derivatives, Structured and Project Finance and Debt Capital Markets.
Notable clients for the Manchester team include key local lenders such as. RBS. Barclays, Lloyds TSB, HSBC, Yorkshire Bank and Santander Group. Our panel appointments are unrestricted in deal complexity or value and we have excellent relationships with our lender clients. Additionally, we undertake debt finance and treasury work for large corporate borrowers, and key clients during the last year have included PZ Cussons, Admiral Taverns, Barlows, Assura, ITV and the Co-op Group.
There are 4 partners (1 focuses on asset finance) in the Manchester team (15 nationally), and a further 6 lawyers who are general banking lawyers and 5 asset finance specialists. This is an outstanding team that has a fantastic reputation in the regional and national market.
Skills & Competencies required
The suitable candidate will be working on a variety of types of banking work, including some asset finance, real estate finance, general corporate banking and leveraged finance for both private and public sector clients. Background
The successful candidate will have:
• A graduate from a highly regarded University with a 2.1 Honours Degree at least
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, challenging environment to tight deadlines.
• Experience of banking law gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level
• Clear understanding of the operation and structure of a Top 15 law firm
• Ability to achieve continuous improvement and development
