Main purpose of the role:
The team deals with the whole range of IT law ranging from system development agreements, outsourcing arrangements, software licensing advice and agreements, services agreements, IT-biased telecoms agreements, hardware agreements, and e-commerce and data protection as well as providing advice on specialist areas such as cloud computing, escrow, and general commercial issues. Work is varied and the size of deals varies from large projects to smaller standalone matters. Work is both UK and international in nature and there is a good range of excellent supplier and customer clients.
The focus of the role will be assisting with aspects of the above work, whether directly with the client, as part of a team on larger projects, or as a supervisor for more junior lawyers within the team. The key focus will be on the IT law side but an expertise in/a knowledge of data protection/telecoms law is welcomed.
Key responsibilities:
•To deal with major projects and smaller standalone matters as sole or principal lawyer or, on occasion, to be part of a team on larger projects.
•To assist the two partners in managing the team.
•To supervise junior fee earners.
•To engage in business development activities.
Skills and experience:
You will have proven experience of IT law and IT outsourcing and will have gained this providing support to clients predominantly in the private sector or whilst working as part of an in-house team. Ideally, you will also have had some experience of public sector matters. You will be experienced in providing advice on a wide range of agreements, including system development and supply agreements, IT maintenance agreements, IT outsourcing agreements, software licensing, services agreements and e-commerce. Additionally, you will ideally be used to coaching and supervising junior team members.Key competencies:To be successful in this role you will be an effective communicator at all levels.
