Our Firm
Blake Lapthorn is one of the UK's leading full service law firms, with offices in London and the South East. We offer our clients the full range of private client advice covering inheritance and tax planning, wills and probate, matrimonial and family, residential property, personal injury, and clinical negligence. We have specialist expertise in the sale and purchase of properties in France and in personal injury trusts. Chambers UK: A Client's Guide to the UK Legal Profession 2010 said:
"This firm has a strong regional presence, driven in large part by its private client department. The team is able to turn around a high volume of simple probates, while leaving the senior partners to tackle more complex issues such as lasting powers of attorney and charitable trusts. "
So, joining us means joining one of the largest and strongest private client departments in the south east with high quality work, able colleagues and the infrastructure to make the most of a host of practice development opportunities.
The Role
The right person has a clear route to equity partnership since the department is not over-partnered and private client services is a core part of what we do. This is a role for someone with ambition, enterprise and energy. Our goal is to help you become the partner of choice to businessmen and businesswomen (current or retired) amongst our client base and beyond our client base, addressing their personal taxation issues, wills & trusts set up and review, and the tax implications of all their investment decisions. You will take a leading role in practice development.
Person specification
You are in private practice with a firm which has an outstanding reputation for private client work. You might live in Hampshire and have become disenchanted with the London commute and now seek a leading role in a leading private client team which is local to you. The qualities we seek include:-
High level technical expertise in personal tax law, wills and trusts.
Particular expertise in providing advice on tax and trusts to high net worth individuals
Possible previous exposure to clients with agricultural property or landed estates
Good commercial business sense having advised business people about their personal investment options and planning (including the tax and trust implications of buying and selling businesses and property)
A natural practice developer and relationship builder
Already perceived as a “trusted advisor” in a specialist and broader commercial sense
Some experience of management and leadership of others
Client following of some description is highly likely but not essential
