Overview


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Professional Support Lawyer to join the Regulatory, Funds, and Financial Products team within the Banking Department in London at a time when the regulation of the financial services industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic change. This is a permanent role and applications would be considered on a full time or part time basis. The role involves providing a professional service to fee-earners, supporting the professional support services provided to the team by a senior regulatory consultant, and specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:-

Monitoring legal and commercial developments within the market, and keeping fee earners and clients informed.

Identifying developments of particular interest to clients, and producing tailored bulletins with commentary and analysis.

Enhancing and developing new mechanisms for capturing, sharing and communicating know-how (e.g. webcasts, intranet, Wiki blog).

Proactively identifying the impact of regulatory developments on other practice areas, and delivering and developing know-how, training, and resources as necessary.

Producing, updating and collating know-how accordingly.

Supporting the training function, including organising training seminars (liaising/appointing presenters / preparing training materials/ delivering training etc).

Identifying opportunities for client seminars / training.

Dealing with queries from fee-earners in the UK and overseas offices, and providing general know-how and advice.

Supervision of paralegals on know-how tasks.

Chargeable work when required.

The successful candidate will have :-

Excellent technical skills, with a strong interest in the commercial and legal issues relating to financial services regulation and funds.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Familiarity with the international, European and UK regulatory framework and processes.

Energy and enthusiasm, with a flexible and pro-active approach.

An interest in know-how systems and applications.
